Every Distance Learning student will gain full access to an ESX server and a Windows computer by utilizing GoToMyPC (Citrix) and will be able to participate fully in our “live lab” classroom environment. Each participant will install and configure his/her own ESX server then begin to learn the intricacies of managing a virtual environment utilizing both command-line techniques and VirtualCenter. VMware has done a remarkable job of anticipating our needs with regard to the virtual environment, yet sometimes there is a need to copy, clone or duplicate a virtual disk from the perspective of the operating system. Such situations arise when snapshots run out-of-control, disks need to be converted from IDE to SCSI (VMware Server only) or any situation which the clone command or vmkfstools can't address. |
